• Swedish truck and bus builder Scania increased its worldwide sales by 12% during the first eight months of the year to SKr7.26 billion (2738 million), although its UK sales remained virtually static.
The overall rise in sales has been helped by a growth in demand for heavy trucks throughout Western Europe — where Sc,ania has increased its market share — and also Latin America.
During the first eight months of 1986 Scania sold 17,855 trucks and buses, compared with 15,925 last year. Of this year's sales, 93% were exports. In the UK market up until the end of September, Scania (GB) sold 2,051 trucks, compared to 2,046 during the same period last year, representing a rise of just 0.1%, Its PSV sales, however, are up slightly from 55 vehicles to 61 during the first eight months.
