• Renault Truck Industries has developed a high-roof crew cab version of its G16 Commando 4x 2 16-tonner rigid specifically for the municipal market, which will go on general sale in January next year.
The special, forward-entry cab provides room for a driver, plus a crew of four seated on a full-width rear bench. The normal passenger seat has been left out to provide a clear walkway into the rear of the cab, The standard G16's chassis frame has been extended in front of the steering axle, and made stiffer with additional cross members. The rear leaf springs have also been shortened and the rearmost tubular crossmember moved forward to allow sufficient room for the brake actuators.
