has announced the acquisition by Tecalemit Garage Equipment Co Ltd of the garage equipment division of Laycock Engineering Ltd, a member of the GKIsi group of companies, to take effect from November 10.
Tecalemit, Siebe's UK garage equipment company based in Plymouth, will be responsible for consolidating the ranges of equipment currently made by Tecalemit in Plymouth and Laycock in Sheffield and Hartlepool.
This acquisition will further strengthen Siebe's base in the garage equipment and diagnostics section of world markets and follows the group's recent additions of Deutsch Tecalemit and Doyce Electronics.
Tecalemit and Laycock garage equipment product ranges dovetail well and will demand little rationalisation. It is claimed that the resulting consolidated range will meet the majority of the trade's needs for garage equipment from a single UK-based source.
The new range will contain virtually all equipment used for vehicle servicing in the workshop or in the field for the home market. Equipment categories will include lifting, lubrication, engine diagnostics, brake testing, MoT testing, headlight testing, suspension wear testing, wheel alignment, forecourt equipment, workshop and industrial equipment, and mobile on-site equipment.
The company is committed to a policy of maintaining spares availability for discontinued lines, so owners of Tecalemit, Laycock, Kismet and Dynaflex equipment should be assured of genuine spare parts portant step in the planned growth of Tecalemit. With the extended product range and enlarged manufacturing base, Tecalemit is now the major manufacturer and supplier of vehicle service equipment in the UK and the company is ideally placed to broaden still further our already extensive export activity."
