Automobile Manufacturers at the Motor Show to promote improvement in design, construction and finish of motor vehicle bodywork and equipment included a commercial vehicle section for the first time.
Winner of section 24 for a driver's cab mounted on rigid or tractive unit of over 16 ton gvw, was Renault Trucks and Buses (UK) Ltd with its TR 305 — a 4x2 tractive unit finished in the Le Centaure option package, incorporating aerodynamic hidome roof.
The price, a mere £41,624, included a large number of extras including kitchen with twoburner gas hob, sink and fridge, and a water tank with electric pump. The ventilating and heating systems, said to be very efficient and capable of changing the volume of cab air in one minute only, included air conditioning and an independent means of heating.
The exterior is finished in what is described as a corrosion proof paint while the interior is fully cloth-trimmed with carpet and heat/sound insulation. The driver's suspension seat is supplied with five-way adjustment, the bunks have pillows and curtains
