Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I was pleased to see the mention of the City of London College's Honours BA Business Studies Course, with its Transport Option (CM, October 11 "Questions and Answers"). May I, however, be permitted to make two small amendments to what is recorded there?

In the first place it is stated that this is 'a three-year course, whereas in fact it occu

pies four. The second point concerns the meaning of the term "sandwich course", which you apply only to the excellent London University Certificate Course-it is more usual in the world of education to apply the term to such a course as our own, which in that meaning is indeed the only one of its kind available in the country.

My colleagues and I feel that there is a tendency for the academic world to approach the study of transport from either an engineering or a town planning viewpoint. We are convinced that the education and training of the future managers of the industry, of its central and local government administrators and of those concerned with commercial research, is best achieved by a course built on a foundation of business studies, combined with practical experience in a wide range of modes of transport.
