Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Handley Page subsidiary, Williams, Fairclough and Co. Ltd., demonstrated its new Liqui-fleet container to the technical Press last week.

First production versions are 20ft 3,850gal4,050gal tanks with end frames and cradles for ISO and Freightliner use. Main point is the light weight of the basic model and the resultant increase in pay load, the version for nonhazardous liquids, 4,050gal capacity, weighing 2 ton lcwt for an all-up 20 ton gross.

Reason for the low tare weight is the absence of the normal box girder framework, the major stresses being borne by the actual tank structure which is built utilizing techniques pioneered in the aircraft industry. Williams, Fairclough is to build to customer specification and the tare weight may be further reduced if the Freightliner cradle is omitted. Construction is in stainless steel: 14-gauge on the lightweight models. and 13,in. for hazardous goods models in accordance with Board of Trade requirements.

At the demonstration the tanks were stacked two high with a Conjack container's transporter, but if necessary they can be stacked up to six high.

It is anticipated that the tanks will be used by bulk liquid carriers, as well as manufacturing concerns. Williams, Fairclough has in the past been engaged in the manufacture of brewery and allied equipment, and it is expected that part of the initial output will be purchased by breweries, distillers, and wine importers.

Production capacity is at present 100 containers a year, but it is hoped to increase this substantially in the near future.
