• The "dynamic growth" of membership of the institute of Road Transport Engineers (900 in two years) was stressed by Sir William Swallow in his address as outgoing president on October 17. He drew attention to the care with which each application was considered to . ensure that standards were maintained, and said that the implications of future developments in road transport had led the council to reconsider the title and grades of membership. Recommendations would be put before the members in due course.
An "open forum" meeting is being arranged by the Scottish Centre of the IRTE in the University of Strathclyde. 204 George St., Glasgow, at 7.30 p.m. on November 4.
