• Last Friday the Minister of Transport, Mr. Richard Marsh, opened the final link of the London-Yorkshire motorway. With this 10-1mile length of road in the West Riding, between Dodworth Interchange (A628) west of Barnsley, and Roundwood Interchange (A638), east of Ossett, there are now 184 miles of M1 from Fivevvays Corner, Hendon. to Stourton, south of Leeds. At the southern end a two-mile extension is to be built from Fiveways to the North Circular Road by 1973. Along the new stretch there are interchanges at Haigh with the A637 and Durkar with the A636.
