A BUS powered by a Leyland ..tA 90 b.h.p. oil engine has covered 115,000 miles in 27 months in the service of the Montreal Tramways. The success 01 its operation led recently to the purchase of five more Leyland engines giving 93 b.h.p. at 1,900 r.p.m. and 10 A.E.C. engines with an output of 115 b.h.p. at 2,400 r.p.m. Compared with five petrol buses, otherwise similar in design, the original Leyland-engined bus showed an economy of some 25 per cent., but reliable .figures as to maintenance are not available, as only slight troubles have occurred.
