Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN interesting new model, manufactured by the Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co., Hunslet, Leeds, 10, is an eight-wheeler, which will be exhibited at the forthcoming Show.

The chassis follows the layout of the concern's rigid six-wheeler, with the exception of the front end, where two steering axles are now embodied. The engine, which is of the Gardner 6LW type, has a bore and stroke of 41 ins., and 6 ins, respectively; the power out' put is 93 h.h.p. at 1,550 r.p.m.

By careful design, it has been possible to produce a thoroughly robust chassis which, when equipped with a 24-ft. platform body, weighs unladen under seven tons; the permissible payload is, therefore, 15 tons. Either a four or five-speed gearbox is available, as desired. In the case of the fivespeed box, the overdrive is through indirect gears, but silence has been obtained by mounting the shafts on three ball bearings of large diameter and by means of a special tooth form. The drive is taken through both rear axles, the bogie being fitted with a third differential.

Vacuum-operated brakes are provided, the hand brake applying shoes on each of the rear wheels. The distinctive Yorkshire cab is supplied with each chassis, this cab having been designed to give a streamlined appear ance to the front of the vehicle and, at the same time, giVe exceptional accessibility. Particular attention has been paid to the easy removal of the cab when required.
