The new T.T.A. Four-in-Line semi-trailer shown coupled to a Bedford tractor unit. AN interesting new semi-trailer, which will make its appearance at the forthcoming Commercial Motor Show, has been introduced by the Truck and Tractor. Appliance Co. (Manchester), Ltd., Richmond Road, Trafford Park, Manchester. Known as the Four-in-Line model, it is to be available in two types —for 6 tons and tons respectively. The former is designed for attachment to any short-wheelbase 2-3-tonner, and the latter to 3-4-ton towing units.

A feature of the new design is that the bogie consists of four wheels in line, these being mounted on two short axles, which oscillate about a central barrel pivot. As each wheel is mounted on a separate stub axle, it can rotate at a different speed from its neighbour.

Braking is effected by a Dewandre servo system, there being a brake drum provided on each wheel. Control is by means of a supplementary pedal mounted over the standard brake pedal in the tractor cab. A separate

handbrake is provided for parking. The concern's patented system of twin springing is incorporated in the new Four-in-Line model, the springs being mounted above and below the oscillating axles.

The price of the 6-ton model with turntable and lorry body is £210, £14 extra being charged if jockey wheels be provided. The respective figures for the 8-tonner are £248 and £266.
