Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONLY a few weeks ago—reported on October 4----we road tested the first of the new-type Multiwheeler maximum-load 10-wheelers. In the tractive units of these outfits thkre is a number of improvements that renders them much superior to earlier designs.

Among these is a constructional alteration to the rear part of the tractor frame. The driving axle and towingpillar platform, together with their subframe, form a unit which is quite separate from the main frame, and has its own suspension system. This unit is attached to the tractor by a pair of cantilever springs pinned to the driving axle and a trunnion-mounted joint. The

object is to render the main tractor portion unaffected by rocking movements of the trailer, and to relieve it of traction forces.

In addition, the new axle is stronger and incorporates other improvements, whilst a more efficient braking system is employed, the trailer brakes being applied through a Dewandre vacuum motor controlled by a hand lever on the wheel.

Appearance has been enhanced by a new design of radiator; the latest cab gives greater comfort, and engine vibration is prevented from being transmitted to the chassis by supporting the power unit on Floatex raountings.
