Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO new models appear in the latest range of Guy Motors, Ltd., Fallings Park, Wolverhampton. One of these is a trolleybus based on an entirely new design of chassis, which was evolved

about two years ago, and incorporates a motor of 80 b.h.p. at the one-hour rating.

The motor is mounted in a forward position at the front of the chassis, where, with no considerations of floor height to hamper design, the ideal circular-sectioned unit may be employed. The forward mounting also enables a large number of turns to be put into the shunt windings, result. ing in a small current of 2 amps. being passed.

The drum controller .embodies. no fewer than 13 Step& so that acceleration is extremely smooth. One of the patented features of the .Guy system of regenerative control is that the shunt circuit is never broken. The latest trolleybus, of the type recently sup

plied to Newcastle Corporation, is equipped with an interesting run-back preventer.

On the goods side there is the .new 4-5-ton rigid-frame trailing-axle six.

wheeler, which is available at the attractive price of £2.98. The new chassis, which is known as the Fox, has a wheelbase of 13 ft. 14 in. and a body space of 16 ft. 6 ins., from the back of the driver's seat to the end of the frame. The substantial frame side members are upswept over the tworear axles, whilst particular attention has been paid to cross-bracing.

The rear suspension is of special note. The rear assembly is not a true bogie, hut a compensating bar on each side allows for movement of the load-carrying wheels without a marked tendency for the load to be removed from any particular wheel. Both rear axles are suspended on semi-elliptic springs, those attached to the trailing axle having a pronounced reverse camber.

The four-cylindered overhead-valve engine has a bore of 95 nun, and a stroke of 130 urn.
