Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN interesting new tractor for use on golf courses, etc., has recently been marketed by Citroen Kegresse, Ltd., Brook Green, Hammersmith, London, W.6 It is small in size and light in

Ni eight, and, due to the ample bearing surface of the endless flexible rubber driving bands, a ground pressure of only about 5 lb, per sq. in. is exerted. As a result, the machine can operate over wet turf and hilly ground without causing damage, thus enabling mowing and rolling to be carried out under any conditions. The British-made Citroen four-cylindered engine provides the motive power, having a bore and stroke of 69 mm. and loo mm. respectively: the power output is 33 b.h.p. at 3,000

r.p.m. A single, dry-plate clutch transmits the power to a three-speed gearbox with a synehro-rnesh mechan• itra for to and second gears, whilst the bevel-type •'rear axle incorporates a two-speed reduction gear, so that six forward and two reverse speeds are available.

Improvements have been made to the final endless-belt drive and the design has been considerably simplified. The small wheels embodied in the drive are articulated, each pair having a rubber mounting, so that no lubrica tion is required. Steering is effected by band brakes operating on the driving pulleys, and the weight of the outfit is 21 cwt. The tractor has an overall length of 7 ft., and is 4 ft. 8 ins, wide and 3 ft. 10 ins, in height. Priced at £275 complete with a starter, the model will also be available, at an extra charge, with an Ailsa Craig oil engine.
