DESCRIBED as the Light Twelve.1-../Four truck, an attractive commercial vehicle of 7-10 cwt. capacity, expressly designed for the quick-transport requirements of tradesmen, will be included in the 1936 range of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., Longbridge, Birmingham.

The machine has a lorry body with a floor area of 5 ft. 2 ins. sauare and 12-in, hinged sides and tailboard, whilst the driver's compartment is fully enclosed. The vehicle costs £170 in works grey, and is subject to a tax of £15.

Equipped with an Austin four-cylindered 11.9 h.p. petrol engine, the chassis is of straightforward design, having a single-plate clutch, unit-constructed four-speed gearbox, spiral-o bevel final drive giving a 5.5 to l'reduction, three-quarter floating axle shafts and ball-bearing hubs.

Developing 28 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m. the power unit has a capacity of 1.535 litre (69.3 ram. by 101.6 mm.), side

valves and a detachable head. The crankshaft runs on three bearings and the pistons are of low-expansion aluminium alloy. The coil-ignition system is employed.

A strong cross-braced chassis frame is used, and the springing is designed for heavy duty and easy maintenance, Silentbloc bushes being a feature of the suspension system. The wheels are shod with 5.00-in. by 19-in. Dunlop tyres and the capacity of the petrol tank is 8 gallons.
