Scheme for Books of Tickets in Lieu of Cash when Charging Up.

We have received the following copy of a circular issued by the North of England Gas Managers Association to their Members' from which it will be seen that every encouragement is to be offered to owners of motor vehicles who wish to use coal-gaS (1) Each gas undertaking to arrange for charging stations at suitable points within their area, either at their own premises or at those of garage owners or

other suitable tradesmen.

(2) That motor users desiring to have charging installations on their own premises for their own use may have such.

(1) Carburetter body. (2) Plug for body. (3) Adjusting screw for valve. (4) Nut for valve. (5) Inlet bend cap. (6) Nut for inlet bend cap. (7) Inlet bend. (8) Jet. (9) Regulator. (10) Valve. (11) 5-16 in. stud for connection nuts. (12) Inside throttle. (13) Connection nuts. (14) Clamps for outside throttle. (15, 30) Stud for clamps. (16) Nuts for clamps. (17) Outside throttle. (28) Stop pins for inside throttle. (19) Washer for spring. (20, 31) Screw for lever. (21) Lever for inside throttle. (22) Adjusting disc. (231 Spring for disc. (24) Pin for disc. (25) Stop peg for disc. (26) Nut for outside thrW4e (27) Stop pins for outside throttle.

(28) Spring t inside throttle. (29) Wa'sher for outside throttle. (3) In both the above cases the gas undertaking to make such arrangement as they think best in regard to the cost of connections' and meter rentals.

• (4) That all gas supplied to charging stations should be at the ordinary lighting rates,•leSs the usual dis'counta, if any ; accounts being rendered for such according to the meter reading at the usual times.

(5) That the' following be the scale of charges to motor users who' obtain gas charges at either the gas undertaking's own charging station or at garages or other charging stations :—Net price of gas to Smallest consumer for lighting up to 2s. 3d. per 1000, 4d. per 100 cubic ft., with a minimum charge for 200 ft., i.e., 8d. ; net price 2s. 4d. to 3s., 'O'd. per /00 ft.,

with a minimum charge for 200 ft., 10d. ; 3s. ld. to 3s. 9d., 6d. per 100 ft., with a minimum charge for 200 ft., i.e., is. ; 35. 10d. to 4s. 6d., 7d. per 100 ft., with a minimum charge fbr 200 ft., i.e., Is. 2d. ' • 4s. 7d. to 5s. 3d., 8d. per 100 ft., with a minimum cha rge• for 200 ft.., i.e., Is. 4d. Any portion of 100 ft. above 200 cubic ft. minimum to be charged. as 100 ft.

(6)That there be the following system of books of tickets for the convenience of motor users:— (a Books containing 240 tickets, each representing Id. in sheets of 12 to the page, may be bought from the Secretary of the North of England Special Purposes Section by any of the underfakings at the rate of El per book, plus a small charge to cover the cost of printing.

(b) The undertakings may sell these books to motor users in their area.

(c) The motor users may present these tickets at any gas. undertaking or garage charging station taking part in the scheme, where they will b6 accepted in lieu of cash.

(d) The garage owner or other supplier of gas to receive cash on presenting these tickets at. the gas office of the district of his charging installation: (e) Gas' undertakings will forward all tickets received to the Secretary of the North of England Special Purposes Section, who will refund the money represented by such tickets once a quarter.

(7) That lists of charging stations be issued from time to time to motor owners. (8) It is desirable in fitting hp the charging installations that the connection, for motors be 2 ins, in

diameter.

(9) It is desirable that meters be fixed at all charging installations, and that such should be of not less than ma lights. (10) If-the gas pressure is above 2 ins, it is desirable to insert on the inlet a tin disc having a hole of such size as will prevent the over working of the meter at a higher pressure to act as a baffler.
