SALES of new commercial vehicles in the United Kingdom during October were 19,606 which is a 16.1 per cent increase for the same month last year, according to figures just released by the SMMT.

For the first 10 months of this year 189,087 commercial vehicles were sold, this being a 6.8 per cent increase for the same period last year.

Ford was the overall market leader for October with 32 per cent followed by British Leyland with 25.6 per cent. Bedford came third with 17.2 per cent and followed by Chrysler with 4.2 per cent.
