Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by 30 per cent BUS FARES in Dundee may be increased from a maximum of 16p to 20p. The director of transport has been given the go-ahead to make an application to the Traffic Commissioners for increases.

The proposals are that existing fares for pensioners, children and adults of 6p should remain unchanged, but that there should be an increase of 1p on the 9p fare and lip adult fare, and 2p on the 13p, 16p and 18p fares.

The proposed increase would bring in about E250,000.

Chairman of the Tayside region roads and transport committee, W. Scott Ferguson, said 10 million passengers journeys had been lost over the last two years.

They were trying to retain passengers and encourage people to go back to the buses.

The proposed increases were short of Scottish Bus Group increases of 15 per cent and British Rail increases of 15 and 16 per cent.
