situation has been experienced by London Transport during the past month, it is understood. In many districts garages now have an almost full complement and only in the west division (where there is a lot of industry) is there still a severe shortage. Even here the situation has improved.
It is not so much that recruitment has increased, although it is continuing steadily, but rather that the wastage of crews has fallen-off considerably —because of the credit squeeze.
