in Britain of over 3 tons unladen weight are between five and 10 years old, according to a Ministry of Transport booklet, Road Vehicles Analysed by Year of First Registration (obtainable from the MoT, Statistics Division, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1). Only II per cent are older than 10 years and 49 per cent not older than five years.
The booklet discloses that apart from mediumsized (between I+ and 3 tons unladen weight) vehicles, which have been declining in numbers in recent years, most goods vehicles of all weights have been in use less than five years.
