THERE was a net surplus of £26,316 on the workings of Preston Transport Department for the year ended March 31, last, This compared with a deficit of £2,854 the previous year.
In his report, released recently, the borough treasurer, Mr. W. Nichol]. said there had been a saving of £2,525 last year on repairs. Tyre maintenance costs were £3,562 compared with £8,954 in 1958-59. The undertaking took responsibility for this work from March 1, 1957.
