BUS,tube and train fares are to be increased in the London area from January 15, next year. The Transport Tribunal has been asked to sanction a general increase from that date, following an application lodged by the British Transport Commission at the end of last week.
Although the increases have been made necessary by recent wage settlements, they will be confined to higher fares only, and journeys of 6d. or less in buses or tube trains will not be affected by the proposed increases.
