Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DR1VERS' handbooks present problems of their own for manufacturers. If compilation of a handbook is delayed until after the vehicle has gone into production, the book does not become available until several months after the first models have been sold. If, on the other hand, the book is prepared so as to be ready for the first sales it has to be based on prototype vehicles, the details of which may well be changed before full production commences. Personally, I feel that the latter course is preferable, even if allowances have to be made for somewhat wild " guestimations " on occasions. These " preview " editions are frequently revealing, however, in that they can give away various clues as to what some of the prototypes must have looked like. A case in point is that of the Austin/Morris van, a road-test report of which appears on pages 612-615. For example, on page 21 of the booklet supplied with this van—dealing with the fuel system—there is a drawing of an A32
