ABOUT 100 volunteers from the office staff are being employed as part-time drivers and conductors by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., the general manager, Mr. D. M. Sinclair, revealed last week.

The company are using 70 part-tirne drivers, three-quarters of whom are members of their office staff. The company's clerks form half the t20 parttime conductors. Some of the clerks work on the buses before starting their normal work in the mornings, and others do road duty in the evenings or on Saturdays. The company have 1,800 vacancies for platform staff.

43-DAY-TOUR OF SEVEN STATES

THE Swedish coach operators, A.B. Linjebuss, are to introduce a 43-day tour of seven European countries next year. The tour, which will be run by an 18-seat coach, will embrace England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. Other .Linjebuss innovations during 1956 will be a 30-day tour of Spain, Italy and the French Riviera, and a sevenday tour in England. It is also hoped to offer a regular tour to Budapest. The company are adding 14 British coaches to their fleet this year.

Arrangements are being made for the sale of combined air and coach tours covering travel between" New York and Europe, Linjebuss providing the coach facilities in Europe.

rONTROL of Petroleum Times, Ltd., '1.-• publishers of The Petroleum Times, the leading oil journal of the United Kingdom, which was established in 1899, has been acquired by Temple Press Ltd.

Editorial direction and business management of the journal will continue unaltered. The address of the offices, Brettenham House, Lancaster Place, London, W.C.2, will remain unchanged.
