• Truck driving test candidates will have to give 10 working days' notice if they want to receive a kill refund of the £62.50 test fee (280 weekends) after they cancel, says the Driving Standards Agency. The change will apply from next Monday (29 May).
• Caledonian MacBrayne has dismissed stories that a 16th century prophet, Kenneth Mackenzie, foretold that the ferry the Isle of Lewis, will sink. MacBrayne says it has no intention of changing the name of its newest ferry.
• A 10-acre patch of vacant land at Heywood Distribution Park in Greater Manchester is to be turned into one of the largest secure lorry parks in the UK, with patrol vehicles, a 2.5m fence and a 24-hour secure gatehouse.
• Gefco UK has started work on a £10m rail-connected vehicle distribution complex at Corby. It will use the 65acre site to import Peugeot and Citroen cars after the site is completed in October.
• Tolls for heavily used tunnels and bridges may go up in the wake of deregulation proposals announced by Roads Minister John Watts.
• Foden will launch a 4x4 variant of the 2000 Series at next month's [WM Exhibition in Torbay. The multi-purpose 17-tonne GVW rigid chassis is powered by a Cummins BSeries engine driving through an Eaton six-speed gearbox and a Steyr two-speed transfer box.
