• UK operators had the first chance to see Cummins' Euro-2 B, C, and N-series engines at the IRTE Show in Telford last week.
In Euro-2 form, the 5.9-litre B-series produces between 128hp (95kW) and 232hp (173kW). All variants are air-to-air chargecooled and 212hp and 232hp variants are fitted with Bosch P7100 in-line fuel pumps to deliver higher injection pressures. These two versions are also fitted with Holset wastegate turbochargers.
The same treatment is used on all three truck variants of the 8.3-litre Cseries.
The C-series block has been reinforced, while the pistons have also been strengthened and are cooled with two undercrown oil sprays.
Steel/aluminium articulated pistons are fitted to all three Euro-2 versions of the 14-litre N-series engines. Blocks and heads are reinforced, while camshafts and followers are micro-finished.
All versions are fitted with Cummins' Celect electronic engine management system.
