• Brewery drivers are waiting to find out if their jobs are safe following Scottish & Newcastle's agreement with Foster's Brewing of Australia to buy Courage for £425m.

The deal has to be ratified by S&N shareholders, and is subject to scrutiny by the Office of Fair Trading which has six weeks to consider the implications for competition.
