campaign to ban bull bars on vehicles following a 28°o increase in the number of children who were hit and killed by road vehicles last year.
"There is a particular peril for children because the height of the bar is often the same height as a child's head," he says.
"Research from Germany shows that 95% of children would be expected to survive the impact of a crash at about 20mph, but a vehicle fitted with bull bars would inflict lifethreatening injuries on all children if it were travelling at 12mph, and that they could possibly die even at lOmph."
