Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ryder Truck Rentals has bought 78 converted Iveco Ford Cargo 0913s for a client involved in heavy goods vehicle driver training.

The Cargos have been fitted with lifting third axles in front of the existing drive axles, allowing drivers to be trained to Class 2 at a fraction of the cost of using conventional three or four-axle vehicles.

Eddie Pargetter of EP Training Services says that 24-tonne rigids are usually needed for Class 2 training: "We have used 13-tonners in the past for the job by fitting lifting rear axles," says Pargetter.

The conversion contract, worth over £300,000, is the largest single job yet undertaken by Southworth Chassis Engineering of Chorley. The vehicles are plated to operate at 11,900kg, and Ryder says the converted three-axle Cargos also have the potential for urban distribution work. Ryder selected Southworth for the work because of the company's ability to produce over 20 vehicles a week.
