BRITISH Association of Removers special study group chairman David Trenchard told delegates at the BAR annual conference at Blackpool that after four years of study, they had. submitted their final head office relocation report to the board of management.
It is understood that the recommendations for buying freehold property in London are more acceptable than trying to relocate BAR head office outside London, where hotel accommodation and access to main trunk routes would be more difficult.
The majority of area secretaries were in favour of the proposals.
Also submitted to the board were recommendations for revising the membership qualifications and rules of conduct.
There could well be requirements for minimum attendances at area meetings to allow continuation of membership as well as an "apprenticeship or probation" period. The BAR insurance consultants are in favour of this requirement. It has been recommended that the present and future presidents be encouraged to set up a "think-tank" on a theme of their choice of their year in office. One further proposal has been that a separate levy as a percentage of the subscription be imposed on members for advertising and publicity purposes. The reports are now with the board of management and their decision will come at a time to be announced.
