Robert Brook, 44, since September 1972 general manager of Midland Fled and chief general manager of the Midlands division of the NBC's Western region, will take the appointment of regional director-designate on October 1. George Brook, who was awarded the OBE in the New Years Honours, is to retire as Western region director at the end of this year after 40 years in the bus industry.
T. M. Marsden, general manager of Aberdeen transport department, has been elected vice-president of the Association of Public Transport Operators. He has also been nominated president-elect to take office at the Association's annual conference in Sept. Bill Jordan has resigned as assistant national secretary of the National Guild of Transport Managers. He remains vice-chairman of the Guild's Cumbrian centre.
Cyril Taylor, who for 20 years until 1966, sat as a Traffic Commissioner for the South Eastern traffic area, has been elected the last Mayor of Winchester.
Ron Brown has been appointed service manager of the transmission division of Eaton Ltd. This appointment follows the acquisition of the Thornycroft plant by Eaton in January. Brian Collier, 27, is to run the new national distribution centre at Luton of Jones Filtration Ltd; he will be responsible for the entire GUD stockholding and distribution operation. He joins Jones Filtration from the Americanbased Winthrop Laboratories Pharmaceutical, Brian Mabbot has joined Lucas Kienzle Instruments as marketing manager. He succeeds P. R. Massey who resigned to live abroad for health reasons.
Michael J. Cantwell has joined Southern Transport (Service) Enterprises Ltd as sales executive after 13 years with Pirelli. Mr Cantwell will look after the London and Middlesex areas while that of Godfrey E. Cornish, late of Salisbury Garages, Salisbury, will look after the South West.
A. Turpie has been appointed office manager at the Scottish factory of Taskers Trailers Ltd and will be based at the company's premises at Blairlin Industrial Estate, Cumbernauld.
W. J. Ayers has been appointed group technical director of European Ferries Ltd, the parent company of Townsend Thoresen Car Ferries, Transport Ferry Service and lnvicta International Airlines. His appointment follows a 22-year association with the group.
