Eastwood, York shire Licensing Authority, when he opened a new garage at Pocklington of East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., last week.

There was no point in operating buses costing 2s. a mile to run when receipts were only 6d., said Maj. Eastwood. At present, 16,000 people were waiting to take the driving test, and new applications numbered 480 a day. These came not from car owners, but from motorcyclists and owners of motor-assisted bicycles.

ClIr. W. Hipwell, chairman of the local council, said that transport facilities helped to arrest the drift of population from rural areas to the towns.

ting next week in London and Edinburgh to hear 14 appeals. In London they will hear six appeals from Monday to Wednesday. Mr. N. L. C. Macaskie, Q.C., will preside.

Mr. Hubert Hull, president of the Tribunal, will preside over the Scottish proceedings, which will take place from Monday to Thursday. Eight appeals will be heard.
