QPECIALLY designed to operate in -fashioned buildings, railway wagons or anywhere where space is at a premium and storage areas have narrow gangways, the Matting range of pallet stackers and transporters offers many advantages_ The Palastaca can stack a 3-ft. 4-in. load at right angles from a 4-ft.. gangway and the Palatruc is equally manceuvrable.
Each is powered by a Villiers fourstroke air-cooled engine contained in a cylindrical casing above the single rear wheel, which is chain-driven from the three-speed-and-reverse gearbox. The hydraulic unit contained above the engine operates normally at 1,000 lb. per sq. in., and in the Palastaca will lift a 10-cwt. load at a rate of 14-ft. per minute. Normal free lift is 4 ft. 6 ins.
The Palatruc is available in 10-cwt.2-ton capacities, and the Palasta(A for 10-cwt.-1-tort loads. The former model, weighs 4# cwt. unladen and the latter 6+ cwt. Control in both cases is by
a deadman's handle-type of tiller, normal travelling speed in top gear being 3 m.p.h. The +-gallon fuel tank is sufficient for 8 hours' operation.
A feature of the pallet-transpotting type is that the front wheels pivot from the front when lifting the load, so that it is automatically lifted away from the stack or wall behind. Similarly, in lowering the load, it is moved forward as it is dropped and touches the wall behind. The stacking machine has four tandem rollers at the front, and is available as a pallet straddle stacker as well.
Manufactured by Matling, Ltd., Park Lane, Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, the transporters cost from £188 and the stackers from £310. A range of finger lengths is available for the transporters. and the stackers may be obtained with a lift up to 9 ft. in the straddle type.
