Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARESOLUTION by Cokhester Chamber of Trade to ban nationalized bodies from membership of local chambers has been rejected on a majority vote by the Eastern Counties area council of the National Chamber of Trade.

Proposing the resolution, Mr. J. Baughan said that an application for membership had been received from a local unit of British Road Services. It was not accepted and B.R.S. unsuccessfully pressed the matter. The chamber then decided to put the matter before the area council.

"We feel we should be active and vigilant to protect our businesses," declared Mr. Baughan. Nationalized industries faced private traders with most unfair and uneconomic competition, and if their representatives were allowed into focal chambers, they might obtain information which was advantageous to them but would be harmful to the private trader The council's vice-chairman opposed the resolution. There was a political party, he said, which promised denationalization. More was to be gained by allowing membership by State industries than by rejecting them.

The council agreed to support the Omnibus Passengers' Protection Association.

C-LICENCE SUMMONS DISMISSED

APROSECUTION was recently brought against Alexander Thomson and Co. (London), Ltd., civil engineering contractors, in which it was alleged that the company was using its C-licensed vehicles illegally in removing rubble from a site upon which it was carrying out a contract. At the recent hearing before the West Londbn magistrate, the summons was dismissed and the company's right to use its vehicles for the work upheld.
