• Hundreds of drivers were diverted or delayed at Teesport last Monday (22 March) when 10 ferries were blockaded for six hours by trawlermen.
Teesport, the UK's second largest commercial docks, was cut off by a fleet of more than 70 trawlers protesting about cheap fish imports.
Vessels unable to dock included ferries operated by Ferrymasters, North Sea Ferries and Bell Lines.
Ferrymasters' Elk, with a full load of 140 trailers aboard, was forced to postpone its scheduled sailing to Gothenburg until 13:50hrs when the blockade was ended by a court injunction obtained by the Harbour Authority Incoming North Sea Ferries' North King, with 50 trailers aboard, was diverted to Hull.
It is believed that a Bell Lines' operated Eimskip vessel sailing from Reykjavik, Iceland and loaded with fish was diverted to Hull, but Bell will not confirm this.
