QPECIAL plans have been made to ensure a " good turn-round for road transport delivering consignments to Runcorn docks in connection with a new service being operated by the my Francois Buisman to Jersey, Guernsey and Le Havre.
Experiments are to be made with containers. Fork-lift trucks, mobile cranes and other mechanical aids are available and the wide quay aprons fronting the Alfred Sheds enable direct delivery between vehicle and ship to be effected where appropriate.
Runcorn docks, which are on the Ship Canal, are operated by the Manchester Ship Canal Co. Bridgewater department. Agents of the shipping line concerned are W. B. Woolley and Co. Ltd., Sefton House, Exchange Building, Liverpool 2.
