is being carried out by the National Union of Farmers and British Sugar.
The union has commissioned consultants from WSP and Transport and Travel Research to review the current operation and also to look at areas that could improve the efficiency of sugar beet transport from farms to the processing sites, which are located at Wissington, Cantley, Newark and Bury St Edmunds.
Interviews are being conducted with hauliers and farmers within the sector and the results of the efficiency study are scheduled to be published in the autumn.
