nent and distributor Dana is in vesting million in a new distribution centre at Rooksley, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Dana reckons to double its business and achieve a 260 million throughput by 1989.
The new centre will replace the company's present packaging and distribution centres, which have been based to close to Milton Keynes for 15 years. "We chose to stay as new research confirmed the location gave us the best possible distribution profile for the delivery of parts within our nationwide network" says Dana distribution group general manager Dick Jones.
The company also plans to double the number of product lines handled, in new stock, and claims that stock levels will be doubled with incoming parts ready for in-line picking on three miles of computer controlled picking faces within one hour of delivery to the centre.
Its conveyorised transport system will be the most modern in Britain. says Dana.
