Bedford's management has now completed its presentation of its plans for a joint venture with Isuzu at the plant, but it was not clear whether the Bedford unions would recommend the proposals.

A spokesman for Bedford said some form of tacit agreement between the unions and management would have to be reached by 30 June or the whole venture with Isuzu and the future of the Luton plant would be put in jeopardy.

• TIR operators were facing more delays this week with the prospect of further industrial action by Civil Servants in support of their 15% pay claim. Following an eight hour walkout at Dover and Ramsgate this Monday further aciton is scheduled by the SCPS for 25/26 June and 2/3 July.
