ETMC CONFERENCE • The European Transport Maintenance Council has published an outline programme for its fifth annual conference, which is to be held in Florence, Italy from 22 to 25 November this year. One of the main technical sessions is entitled "1992 — A Common Transport Policy" and will be presented by the International Road Transport Union (IRU). Other technical sessions planned for the conference include "Maintenance Trends", "Tomorrow's Vehicles", and "Brakes and Braking". ETMC says that some of the workshop sessions in Florence, in which delegates are invited to discuss topics in more detail, should lead to the formation of study groups which in turn should lead to more ETMC-recomrnended codes of maintenance practice.

Further information on the Florence ETMC conference is available from ETMC central office in Antwerp, Belgium, telephone (3) 237 3627, or from ETMC national chairmen who are Malcolm Fi!sell (01 432 1899); George Thompson (031 229 9377); and Dan Kennedy (0232 611144).
