Impex Freight Brokers, were fined £5,000 each at Leeds Crown Court last week for conspiring to make false international permits and journey sheets.

Rayner, of Menditt Crescent, Bury in Lancashire and Garratt, of Stock Grove, Rochdale in Lancashire, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring together and with others to create false international permits and journey sheets and of inducing people to accept the documents as genuine.

The court was told that the offences only came to light after a vehicle was stopped in Dover and found to be carrying false permits.

Judge Donald Herrof fined the defendants £2,500 on each offence, ordering that the fines be paid within 12 months with a nine months prison sentence in default. He made no order as to costs in view of the defendents' financial circumstances.
