• Increases in the prices of trailers could be inevitable despite the current buoyancy of the market, says Norman Mellors, group managing director of Sheffield-based trailer builder Craven Tasker.
Mellors claims that trailer manufacturers are finding it more and more difficult to supply from stock as orders increase: "The lust in time' philosophy adopted by many suppliers has resulted in depleted stocks," says Mellors, "and this creates a situation in the industry which could lead to extended deliveries."
Mellors expects sales to increase by 11% this year, and says the number of trailers being produced in the UK has doubled since the early 1980s.
CI Craven Tasker's rental subsidiary Eurofleet Rental has won a series of new contracts, including a long-term rental agreement to supply five curtainsiders to Sea Route Ferry, an order for 18 tail lift vans from NCCS and a contract for six flat trailers from English China Clays.
