NOBODY CAN say Pickford Removals is not a far-seeing company. It has recently shopped one of Europe's largest and most powerful optical telescopes from Herstmonceaux to La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, and installed it on the collapsed volcano, the Taburiente, 8,000ft above sea level. A second telescope will follow this summer and a third in 1985.
Meanwhile, they might be used to try to trace several guard dogs that have recently been stolen. Among them was a doberman pinscher pinched from a minicipal office at Wellingborough.
A NOTICE on the rear of a Securicor van read: "Warning — Guard Dog. No Hand Signals." It just wags its tail.
