COMMON Market cottunissioners met as CM went to press to consider applications for the deferment of the now notorious regulations on hours.
Britain and Ireland have applied for the rules to be deferred until December 31, 1977—the end of the transitional period.
The Danes had agreed with their industry to implement the regulation on February 1, 1977 if the EEC council of ministers had not come up with a solution to the hours problem and they wanted deferment until then.
The feeling is that the deferment will be granted, and that it is just a question of how long the period will be. It is understood that the final answer will be between the two dates.
