LEYLAND B15 buses with the optional Gardner engine will have the benefit of the uprated version now under development. This is expected to produce around 200 bhp. Bus operators will also find improved access to the starter motor which has been repositioned on the other side of the engine. Extra crankcase ribs and mounting pads for the new exhaust arrangement could be seen on the 6LXB engine fitted in the prototype Foden decker described in CM last week.
A Gardner spokesman said that individual components were at present being modified for the introduction of the new model.
