AT a meeting of the standing committee last week the trade unions representative of British Road Services clerical and supervisory grades were told that the management considered the six grades now operating to be adequate for the present needs of the service.

The trade unions were critical of this decision and pointed out that other

sections of the transport industry had • introduced improvements into their salary structures; it was felt, particularly in view of the Transport Holding Companys annual report, thatBRS should take similar action.

A further meeting of the standing committee to consider specific trade Onion proposals will be held on July 16.

Visits to Austria, Italy. and Switzerland have yet to be arranged, hut they will -certainly be made before long.
