Some of the bureaucracy in the tribunal service should be reduced to allow employment judges and legal representatives to deal more efficiently with claims that are brought. The provision of additional information on a claim form will mean that where legitimate claims are issued, hauliers will be able to assess at the outset what those employees are seeking and enable them to settle claims that have merit.
The changes mean it is more important than ever to ensure that hauliers specify on the response form all grounds on which claims will be defended. Failure to complete a response form fully at the outset could lead to a defence being struck out as having no reasonable prospect of success.
