look more interesting I WAS INTERESTED to read Alan Bunting's comments about Volvo's new FH looking a mess (CM 18 July).

Obviously, Volvo's research and development team have spent months, if not years, redesigning the cab of the new FH to be as aerodynamic as possible. Although the old (or classic) FH has a look of its own, the new-look FH is an innovation inside and out.

As the person who bought the trucks to not only do a job, but also to improve fuel economy and working conditions for our drivers, the first reports back are that the two new FH13, 500hp units we have on our fleet are the best thing the drivers have ever driven!

I agree about the large black plastic grill but, with a bit of thought, you can colour code it white; leave the two smiley lips black and the truck looks different again and very eye catching. I know, because since we put our two on the road in June, many people have shown an interest in the trucks and said how eye catching they are.

Recently, we purchased Dafs, Scanias and Mercedes-Benz units and I tend to look at trucks now as work horses, but I stood in our yard when they were delivered and thought "that's a nice-looking truck!" So it goes to show how people's opinions differ.
