In Brussels last week Mr S. A. Posthumus, chairman of the European Parliament's transport committee, expressed the committee's grave concern over the delay occuring in the Council's work on transport. A public statement is to be issued to supplement the Ministerial questioning session.

It is understood that agreement so far is confined: (1) to the organization of a survey of infrastructure costs for rail, road and inland waterways: (2) to the establishment of a statement on international goods transport by road within the framework of regional statistics. Agreement still seems far away on other points such as bracket tariffs and tachometer use.
