The booze and leisure giant is reorganising the distribution Side of its brewing division Scottish Courage.

It is shedding about 1,300 warehouse and distribution staff from its 39 depots, replacing them with three new Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) and 30 satellite depots.

Logistics firm Hays will continue to handle distribution from the breweries to the new RDCs, which it will also operate.

A spokesman for Hays explains that the new RDCs will be located both north and south of the border: one near Livingstone, West Lothian; one in West Yorkshire; and the third to the west of London.

He adds: "We are very pleased that our long-term relationship with Scottish Courage is going to continue."

Scottish Courage draymen will continue to deliver beer to its customers.
